Cana – the debut album
The decision to undertake the recording of our first album marked a significant milestone in the evolution of the group. We had spent a long time and a significant amount of money searching for suitable material by other artists that we felt reflected the sound and musical capability of the group but which was intrinsically linked to the seasons and ceremonies that we were part off. So why keep looking if we knew we could do it ourselves?
And so began a three year project of writing, developing, recording and producing the end result. We hoped to project the passion we have for contemporary Christian music, professionally presented in a prayerful manner by a group of ordinary people but with the unique “Cana” dimension, an element that continues to draw congregations into a true spiritual experience.
If you look at credits on the album sleeve, you begin to realise the range of talent evident throughout the whole group. How do you get to look at the sleeve? Well why not purchase your own copy for €15. All you have to do is e-mail fran@cana.ie
The Wedding Album
Cana were originally formed as a practical resource to the church music groups in Dublin who were learning suitable material for use in Christian marriage. So we were delighted in 2005 when Fr. Pat O’Donoghue – the director of the Dublin Diocesan Liturgical Resource Centre – asked the group to contribute to the “The Wedding Album.
The four songs used on the disc perfectly capture the fresh, harmonious and distinctive Cana sound. A must for any group seeking a greater collection of material for use in a church marriage setting.
